Studying God's Word

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
II Timothy 2:15

"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
Acts 17:11

"And He answered and said unto them, My mother and My brethren are these which hear the word of God and do it."
Luke 8:21

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Romans 10:17

"And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
II Timothy 3:15-17

"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
II Timothy 4:2-4

Just a Closer Walk with Thee...

Let us resolve to make this year one in which we enjoy a close relationship with the Lord. This is only possible by feeding our souls daily with His Word and speaking to God in prayer. Consider re-prioritizing your schedule to make time for the Lord daily. Make it a priority to read the Bible in its entirety this year and to pray to God each day. Join us in reading the Bible in its entirety this year.

PRAYER

pray

Prayer is an often neglected area of our lives when we allow less important things to crowd out our spiritual needs. Below are just a few of the man Scriptures on prayer. These passages are good to review periodically that we may be more dedicated, godly men and women of prayer.

Acts 2:41-42: "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."

I Thessalonians 5:17: "Pray without ceasing."

Matthew 26: 41: "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Luke 21:36: "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

Colossians 4:2: "Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving."

I Peter 4:7: "But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer."

Luke 6:28: "Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you."

Luke 18:1: "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint..."

Romans 12:12: "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer."

Ephesians 6:17-18: "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."

Philippians 4:6-7: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

I Timothy 2:1-3: "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour."

James 5:13: "Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms."

James 5:16: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

Matthew 6:5-15: The manner in which we should pray - not as a recited prayer but as an example of how we should pray and for what we should ask.

John 17: Jesus' prayer for his apostles and also for all who would follow Him

Colossians 1: Paul's thanksgiving
